The Allen & Heath DX88-P is a compact 96kHz audio expander designed to add remote or local analogue connectivity to Allen & Heath AHM Audio Matrix Processors and compatible systems. Featuring eight mic/line inputs and eight line outputs on professional Phoenix/Euroblock connectors, the DX88-P provides a reliable and flexible solution for fixed installations where remote audio connectivity is required.
The DX88-P provides eight analogue mic/line inputs and eight analogue line outputs, allowing audio sources and destinations to be conveniently located throughout a facility. The use of Phoenix/Euroblock connectors makes installation simple and secure, making the unit particularly well suited for commercial and permanent AV installations.
Each input includes recallable gain ranging from 5dB to 60dB, switchable phantom power for condenser microphones, and a 20dB pad to accommodate higher-level input sources. This versatility allows the expander to support a wide range of audio devices and applications.
The DX88-P offers significant installation flexibility by allowing remote placement up to 100 meters from the host processor or mixer. This capability enables installers to position audio inputs and outputs exactly where they are needed without requiring long analogue cable runs.
A single Cat5e or higher-rated cable carries audio and control information between the expander and the host system, reducing infrastructure complexity and installation costs.
The expander connects through Allen & Heath's DX protocol using the DX A port. A secondary DX B port enables easy daisy-chaining of additional expanders, allowing systems to grow as operational requirements change.
This architecture provides a convenient and scalable solution for adding distributed audio connectivity throughout a building or venue.
Cascade mode allows multiple DX expanders to be connected together for increased I/O capacity. Up to two DX expanders can be daisy-chained on each DX port, while up to eight DX88-P units can be connected through a single DX Hub, providing excellent scalability for larger installations.
This flexibility makes the DX88-P suitable for educational campuses, hospitality facilities, corporate environments, houses of worship, and multi-zone commercial audio systems.
The DX88-P is designed for fast deployment with true plug-and-play functionality. No IP addressing or advanced network configuration is required, allowing installers to quickly add the expander to compatible systems.
Firmware updates are automatically managed by the connected mixer or processor, ensuring the expander remains synchronized with the system while minimizing maintenance requirements.
For equipment rack deployments, an optional rack mounting kit allows two DX88-P expanders to be installed side by side in a standard rack enclosure. Additional mounting options are available for combining the DX88-P with a GPIO interface or DX Hub within the same rack installation.
These installation options provide the flexibility required for centralized equipment rooms and distributed audio system architectures.
The DX88-P is engineered specifically for fixed installation applications where reliable remote audio connectivity is essential. Whether expanding an AHM audio matrix system in a conference center, educational facility, hospitality venue, retail environment, or house of worship, the DX88-P delivers dependable 96kHz audio performance with straightforward deployment and scalability.
The Allen & Heath DX88-P is ideal for corporate facilities, educational institutions, hospitality venues, retail environments, houses of worship, conference centers, public spaces, and other commercial AV installations that require remotely deployed analogue audio inputs and outputs with simple, reliable connectivity.
